Bakteri Legionella awalnya dikenal karena menyebabkan wabah penyakit dan kematian yang berawal dari Pennsylvania American Legion Convention di Hotel Bellevue-Stratford, Philadelphia pada musim panas tahun 1976.

Penyakit Legionnaire dapat ditularkan ketika seseorang menghirup butiran air di udara yang mengandung bakteri Legionella. Hasil investigasi menemukan bahwa cooling tower dan evaporative condenser, equipment penghilang panas yang menghasilkan butiran air dalam jumlah besar, sering terkontaminasi dengan Legionella.

Munculnya kesadaran atas dampak kesehatan dan hukum dari penyakit Legionnaire di Inggris dan negara-negara Eropa menghasilkan peraturan pemerintah dan diwajibkannya sanitasi berkala pada cooling tower.

1. Program pengelolaan air sesuai CTI (Cooling Technology Institute), yang akan diterapkan staf Anda dan RMC.
2. Sertifikasi laboratorium independen bahwa air di sistem bebas Legionella pada saat pengambilan sampel.
3. Mengikuti standar regulasi JCAHO EC 1.7 (organisasi nirlaba yang memberikan akreditasi untuk fasilitas kesehatan di Amerika).
